Plague eight

Shu-god of air and wind
Nephri-goddess who guarded the grain
Geb-god of earth
Heset-god of plenty
Renenutet-god of nourishment and harvest

Psalm 37:4 (ESV)
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Our Father in heaven,
How many idols we construct for protection!
Father, we in the Mississippi Delta declare that You are our refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2)
How many idols we construct to meet our desires!
Father, we in the Mississippi Delta proclaim that Your Son Jesus is the Desire of All Nations (Haggai 2:7).
How many idols we construct out of fear!
Father, we in the Mississippi Delta shout out that You are merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness (Exodus 34:6). Help us to love You with all our hearts and with all our understanding and with all our strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:33), for perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18).
You revealed the inadequacies of the Egyptian deities’ protection from the locusts. You are our protection against devouring. Amen.
