Ehud

Judges 3:20,21,22a,26 (ESV)
And Ehud came to him [Eglon the king of Moab] as he was sitting alone in his cool roof chamber. And Ehud said, “I have a message from God for you.” And he arose from his seat. And Ehud reached with his left hand, took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly. And the hilt also went in after the blade, and the fat closed over the blade. . . . Ehud got away. He passed by the idols and escaped to Seirah.

Ehud means united, strong.

Lord, we cry out for Your people in the Mississippi Delta. Help us escape the oppression of ungodly physical appetites and pass beyond the idolatry of our culture. Weave our bodies, souls, and spirits into threefold cords not easily broken. Amen.
Ecclesiastes 4:12
