1. The brazen altar was the place of sacrifice and restoration.

Elijah stayed in Zarephath (smelting furnace) and then traveled to Mt. Carmel.

1 Kings 18:36-38 ESV
And at the time of the offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

6. The ark of the covenant held the Ten Commandments, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the golden pot of manna.

Exodus 16:33-34 ESV

As I looked, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, and a great cloud, with brightness around it, and fire flashing forth continually, and in the midst of the fire, as it were gleaming metal. And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness, but each had four faces, and each of them had four wings.

O Father,
We thank You for the gifts of ministry You placed in the prophets of Israel long ago. We thank You that the witness of their deeds enlarges our hearts and strengthens us. Teach us in the Body of Christ in the Mississippi Delta to appropriate those gifts that You have have set aside for our times. Teach us how to love. Amen.
