Family dysfunction

Genesis 4:6-7 (AMP)
And the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you so angry? And why do you look annoyed? If you do well [believing Me and doing what is acceptable and pleasing to Me], will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well [but ignore My instruction], sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you [to overpower you], but you must master it.”

Genesis 37:21-22 (AMP)
Now Reuben [the eldest] heard this and rescued him from their hands and said, “Let us not take his life.” Reuben said to them, “Do not shed his blood, but [instead] throw him [alive] into the pit that is here in the wilderness, and do not lay a hand on him [to kill him]”—[he said this so] that he could rescue him from them and return him [safely] to his father.

O Father,
How much resentment and unforgiveness there are in families! Forgive us, Lord.
Help the Christians in the Mississippi Delta to keep their eyes on You, and not on themselves. In this season of decorating Christmas trees, send Your Holy Spirit to the families of the Delta and mark them as well–with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Amen.
