From WLBT/WDBD: A student from Washington School, Greenville, has died from a highly contagious strain of flu. The school is closed until Wednesday.
The questions are from Eliphaz, one of Job’s three friends who visited him in his affliction. The response is from the psalms of the ascent, the songs pilgrims sang as they ascended to Jerusalem.
Job 4:17,15:14, Psalm 123:1-2(NLT)
Can a mortal be innocent before God?
I lift my eyes to you, O God, enthroned in heaven.
Can anyone be pure before the Creator? Can any mortal be pure?
We keep looking to the Lord our God for his mercy,
Can anyone born of a woman be just?
Just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.
Our Father in heaven,
We proclaim Your majesty, Your purity, Your justice, and Your mercy over Greenville. We are fallen creatures; even our children fall short of Your glory. But You are enthroned in all majesty, all power, all wisdom, all love.
We keep our eyes on You in the midst of the suffering from the death of this child and look for Your mercy. We roll upon You the dangers of this virus and trust. We thank You for the good work You are doing in Greenville. Amen.
