On March 2nd, the Supreme Court will hear Oral Arguments for Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, a case that will determine whether states like Texas can pass legislation that regulates abortion clinics and requires doctors to have admitting privileges for local hospitals.
March 2, 1949 – Captain James Gallagher lands his B-50 Superfortress Lucky Lady II in Fort Worth, Texas after completing the first non-stop around-the-world airplane flight in 94 hours and one minute. This day in history fell on Adar 1, which commemorates the plague of darkness, the ninth plague that fell upon the Egyptians.
Ra or Re is the ancient Egyptian solar deity. Apep embodied chaos and was thus the opponent of light.
Psalm 139:11-12 (ESV)
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.
Our Father in heaven,
You showed Your sovereignty over Ra by covering Egypt with a thick darkness for three days and defeated Apep by providing light over Goshen. Darkness is as light to You.
We are mere mortals and see through a glass darkly. If there are ancient Egyptian deities that hold sway over the US Supreme Court, particularly Ra and Apep, we proclaim Your sovereignty over them. We speak the name of Jesus, Your only begotten Son, over the Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt case. At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow in heaven, on earth, and under the earth.
Be gone, spiritual darkness! May the sun of righteousness rise over this court with healing in its wings. We loose the angels that war against Egyptian deities over the US Supreme Court.
With You, Father, is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light. Amen.
Psalm 36:9, Malachi 4:2
