In light of the upcoming national elections, I will be looking at our nation’s roots in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
As a result of the commerce, Philadelphia manufactories began to develop–shipbuilding yards, flour mills, a paper mill, leather-working establishments, steel furnaces, an anchor forge, carriage and wagon shops, a fire engine factory, and glass works.
This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.”
O Father, what blessings You bestowed on William Penn’s “Holy Experiment!” We thank You. We join our voices with the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders around Your throne and speak into the heavenlies over Philadelphia:
Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
who was and is and is to come!
Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.
