Job 38:4-7,12 and John 1:1-5 (NIV), arranged antiphonally
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! He was with God in the beginning.
Who stretched a measuring line across it? Through him all things were made;
On what were its footings set, Without him nothing was made that has been made.
Or who laid its cornerstone—while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy? In him was life,
Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place? And that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Jesus Christ, Son of God, Head of all rule and authority of every angelic principality and power, and Head of the church,
You are the Beginning, the Firstborn from among the dead. You alone are preeminent in every respect and in everything.
You are the light of all mankind. The darkness has not and shall not overcome Your light in the United States of America. We loose ministering spirits to serve the heirs of salvation across our nation. We decree a smooth transition of power in the executive and legislative branches of our government.
You are the carefully chosen, precious Cornerstone of the church. Those who trust in You shall not be ashamed. Amen.
