Ezra 5:2 (AMP)
Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel [heir to the throne of Judah] and Jeshua the son of Jozadak arose and began to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem; and the prophets of God [Haggai and Zechariah] were with them, supporting and encouraging them.
Zerubbabel–a stranger at Babylon
Haggai–feast, solemnity, my holiday
Zechariah–the Lord has remembered
Our Father in heaven,
You have graciously remembered that we are mere human flesh. You let Your compassion and mercy come quickly to meet us, and You covered our sins by the Blood of Your Son Christ Jesus. He is our Savior and Deliverer.
You prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies. You have anointed and refreshed us with the Holy Spirit. Our cup overflows.
We pray that the Christians of Mississippi will present their bodies as a living sacrifice, set apart, holy, and well-pleasing to You. Help us to put on hearts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing graciously with one another, and willingly forgiving each other if one has a cause for complaint against another. Just as You have forgiven us, help us to forgive one another.
Love covers a multitude of sins, and Mississippi has many sins, past and present. Rebuild! May we rebuild the house of God in Mississippi. May we rebuild a house of love. Amen.
