Genesis 4:7 (ESV)
If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”
Dear Father in heaven, loose Your holy angels to help the saints, especially _____, resist the crouching sin.
Romans 7:21 (ESV)
So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand.
Loose Your holy angels to help the saints, especially _____, resist the evil close at hand.
1 Peter 5:8 (ESV)
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Loose Your holy angels to help the saints, especially _____, resist the roaring lion. Amen.
Numbers 20:8 ESV God’s instruction to Moses
“Take the staff, and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water. So you shall bring water out of the rock for them and give drink to the congregation and their cattle.”
Judges 15:18-19 MEV Samson’s prayer
He was very thirsty, and he called out to the Lord, ‘You gave this great deliverance through Your servant, but now may I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?’ So God split open the basin at Lehi, and water flowed out of it. He drank, was refreshed, and revived. Because of this he called the place En Hakkore, which is in Lehi to this day.
En Hakkore–fountain of the crier
Our Father in heaven,
We cry out for the fountain of life-giving water in the Mississippi Delta. Amen.
Nehemiah 5:14-15 (NLT)
For the entire twelve years that I was governor of Judah—from the twentieth year to the thirty-second year of the reign of King Artaxerxes—neither I nor my officials drew on our official food allowance. The former governors, in contrast, had laid heavy burdens on the people, demanding a daily ration of food and wine, besides forty pieces of silver. Even their assistants took advantage of the people. But because I feared God, I did not act that way.
Our Father in heaven,
You reign above the nations, sitting on Your holy throne. Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice.
The US Congress will be revising the tax code this autumn. The rich and powerful hire lobbyists, but who speaks for the people? Loose a spirit of the fear of God upon the members of Congress and their staffs!
Father, we pray for a just tax code. No unmerited favor. No twisted justice. Let true justice prevail. Amen.
Psalm 47:8, 45:6
Joshua 10:17-26 (AMP)
And Joshua was told, “The five kings have been found and are hidden in the cave at Makkedah.” Joshua said, “Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave, and assign men by it to guard them, but do not stay there yourselves; pursue your enemies and attack them from the rear. Do not allow them to enter their cities, for the Lord your God has given them into your hand.” Now when Joshua and the sons of Israel had finished striking the Amorites dead in a very great defeat, until they were wiped out, and the surviving remnant among them had entered the fortified cities, all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace. No one uttered a [threatening] word against any of the sons of Israel.
Then Joshua said, “Open the mouth of the cave and bring out to me those five [Amorite] kings from the cave.” They did so, and brought these five [Amorite] kings out of the cave to him—the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon. When they brought these kings out to Joshua, Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and told the commanders of the men of war who had gone with him, “Come up close, put your feet on the necks of these kings.” So they came forward and put their feet on the necks [of the five kings]. Joshua said to them, “Do not fear or be dismayed (intimidated)! Be strong and courageous, for this is what the Lord will do to all your enemies against whom you [are about to] fight.” Then afterward Joshua struck them [with his sword] and put them to death, and he hung them on five trees; and they hung on the trees until evening.
Our Father in heaven,
We are blind creatures, to be much pitied. We see through a glass darkly and do not fully comprehend the spiritual forces that are propping up the current state flag.
If there are demonic forces that are empowering the current flag, we order the demon leaders bound, entrapped in a small place, and guarded by angels. Seal them up as in a bag. We bind up all interaction, interplay, and communication by these demon forces. We loose holy angels to read Holy Scripture to these imprisoned demons day and night without ceasing.
A new flag, Father. That is our hearts’ desire. A flag of Hope. A new flag to bring honor to Your name. Amen.
Update: Inspiration for this prayer came from Win Worley.
Ezra 10:6 (NLT) Regarding Israel’s taking pagan wives
Then Ezra left the front of the Temple of God and went to the room of Jehohanan son of Eliashib. He spent the night there without eating or drinking anything. He was still in mourning because of the unfaithfulness of the returned exiles.
Eliashib–whom God will restore
Ezra’s repentance included fasting in a space Jehovah granted, by an inheritance of restoration.
O Lord, may we in the United States likewise turn to You in repentance. Open our hearts. Grant us those intersections of time and space to pray and fast. Restore our nation’s inheritance. Amen.
Psalm 30:1-4 (NLT)
I will exalt you, Lord, for you rescued me.
You refused to let my enemies triumph over me.
O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
and you restored my health.
You brought me up from the grave, O Lord.
You kept me from falling into the pit of death.
Sing to the Lord, all you godly ones!
Praise his holy name.
O Lord our God,
You are our strong Deliverer. You restore Your people when they acknowledge You and cry out to You.
Hear the intercessors in the state of Mississippi and have mercy on us. We thank You that You are bringing the state of Mississippi up from the grave. We humbly ask You to build a hedge of protection around the pit of abortion, that it will no longer be legal, available, and accessible in our state.
Turn our mourning into joyful dancing! Clothe us with joy that we might sing praises to You and not be silent. O Lord our God, we will give You thanks forever! Amen.
Psalm 29:1-2 (NLT)
Honor the Lord, you heavenly beings;
honor the Lord for his glory and strength.
Honor the Lord for the glory of his name.
Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
Lord, You give Your people strength. You bless them with peace. May You reign as king forever in Mississippi.
